Happy Birthday, Granga!

Today would have been my grandmother’s 98th birthday, and it made perfect sense that we would celebrate her today with peach milkshakes. I took her picture along with us to Chick-fil-A, and it was fun to see people look at it on our table and recognize her, from the state troopers seated next to us to the employees making their rounds in the dining room.

Plus, it was absolutely our honor and joy to meet and spend time visiting with our local CFA’s owner/operator Gary Robinson and his family who just happened to be there in the store at the same time.

In some ways, Mother, Norah, and I felt a little like celebrities, not because there is anything special about us, but because we can claim Granga as our own. Her story is one that touched so many thousands of people this summer, and I’m just thrilled for the opportunities that it has opened up for us, including conversations with the CFA corporate office that I can’t wait to share later!

The window on peach milkshake season is closing in a few weeks so if you haven’t been able to go treat yourself yet, don’t wait too long. I know I’ll be grabbing them every chance I get until they are gone again until next year!
